Bedding Care

We've had several inquiries regarding proper bedding care, so we are going to break down the when, the how often, and the how's on one of the most important places in your home....your bed.

Sheets:

We highly recommend cleaning bed sheets once a week. Always check the label for "proper cleaning instructions" so you don't ruin them. Please make sure to throw those pillow cases in there as well. Wash on warm, tumble dry if instructions allow.

Comforter:

Once a month is my recommendation. Exceptions would include: if you let your fur babies sleep on the bed with you, children's comforters, and no-top-sheet sleepers. Pets leave fur and dander that can leave your comforter covered in things you'd rather not sleep with, kids...well need I say more?...and those of you who sleep with no top sheet, well theres no barrier between you and that comforter so sweat, dead skin, and oils from your skin accumulates faster than those who do use one. Of course, follow care instructions. Wash, and dry thoroughly to keep it from molding.

Covers:

If you're like me your pillows and mattress have a protective covering over them. If you don't have them, I highly recommend getting waterproof mattress and pillow coverings. They can be bought in stores and even found on Amazon. These should be washed weekly along with your sheets. Wash and dry throughly to avoid mold and mildew.

Mattresses:

Well these can be a bit tricky as it's not like we can just toss these in the washer and dryer. Keeping a cover on your mattress can greatly increase the life of your mattress, as well as regularly rotating/flipping. Follow the manufacture recommendations to find out how often these should be done. I recommend (depending on quality of the mattress) that they be replaced every 10-25 years.
